HEIC to PDF Quality and File Size
Creating a PDF can require HEIC decoding, image scaling, or image re-encoding. The result should not be assumed to be lossless or smaller than the original files.
- Visual quality: inspect text, fine detail, gradients, orientation, and color in the completed PDF.
- PDF size: the output can be larger or smaller depending on the selected images and the generated document.
- Multiple images: adding more images normally increases the amount of content stored in the PDF.
- Original preservation: keep the HEIC files until the PDF has been opened and checked successfully.
Metadata, Multi-Image HEIC Files, and Live Photos
A HEIC file can contain metadata, more than one image, thumbnails, depth information, or content associated with a Live Photo. A static PDF may not retain all of this information.
- EXIF and GPS: do not assume that location, timestamps, camera details, or other EXIF fields remain embedded.
- Visible orientation: check that each converted image appears upright in the downloaded PDF.
- Additional images: do not assume that every image or auxiliary layer stored in the HEIC container is included.
- Live Photos: a static PDF does not reproduce the motion-video portion of a Live Photo.
- HDR and depth data: these HEIC-specific properties may not be retained in the PDF.

Not necessarily. The output size depends on the source images, the number of selected files, image processing, and the PDF structure.
Do not assume that EXIF, GPS, timestamps, HDR information, depth data, thumbnails, or other HEIC metadata remain in the PDF.
A HEIC file can contain more than one image or additional data. The current converter should be treated as a still-image conversion workflow, and the original file should be kept when additional content matters.
