Convert HEIC to PNG Online

Choose one or multiple HEIC images and create PNG files for editing or software that does not accept HEIC. PNG output is commonly larger than the original photo.

Private HEIC to PNG — Right in Your BrowserBatch convert HEIC images to PNG locally. Nothing gets uploaded. Drop HEIC or HEIF files here, or click to choose them.

Use PNG when the destination specifically needs PNG output

PNG stores the decoded output with lossless compression. It is useful for editing and software compatibility, but photographic PNG files are commonly larger than HEIC or JPG.

Good reason to choose PNG

An editor, design workflow, application, or upload form explicitly requires PNG.

Use JPG instead

The main goal is ordinary photo sharing, broad compatibility, or a smaller output file.

How to Convert HEIC to PNG

Choose one or more HEIC images, convert them to PNG, and check each completed result.

  1. 1

    Choose HEIC images

Select one or multiple .heic files from your device or drop them into the upload area.

  2. 2

    Convert the files to PNG

Start the conversion and follow the status shown for each selected image.

  3. 3

    Download and inspect each PNG

Open the completed PNG and check its dimensions, orientation, visual appearance, and file size before deleting the HEIC original.

What Lossless PNG Output Actually Means

The converter decodes the HEIC image into pixels and then encodes those pixels as PNG. PNG compression is lossless for the encoded output, but conversion does not recreate information that was previously lost in the source HEIC.

  • No JPEG-style re-encoding artifacts: the PNG encoder does not use ordinary JPEG compression.
  • Not the original camera data: the PNG contains the decoded image produced from the HEIC source.
  • Not guaranteed pixel equivalence: color conversion, bit depth, orientation handling, alpha, and image selection can affect the result.

Why PNG Files Are Often Larger Than HEIC

HEIC is designed for efficient photographic storage. PNG is effective for graphics, screenshots, flat-color artwork, and images that require lossless output, but it is usually less storage-efficient for camera photographs.

  • Photographic detail: noise, texture, gradients, and millions of colors can make PNG files large.
  • Resolution: more pixels normally produce a larger output.
  • Alpha and color information: additional channels or profiles can increase the file size.
  • Do not convert only to save space: use JPG or compress the HEIC source when a smaller file is the actual goal.

Transparency, Dimensions, Metadata, and Special HEIC Content

PNG supports transparency, but format support alone does not prove that transparency in a particular HEIC file is preserved by a conversion. The same caution applies to dimensions, orientation, metadata, color information, HDR, depth, thumbnails, and multiple images.

  • Transparency: inspect the completed PNG against a contrasting background.
  • Dimensions and orientation: check the output pixel size and visible direction.
  • Metadata: do not assume EXIF, GPS, timestamps, or camera details remain.
  • Multi-image HEIC: do not assume that every image or auxiliary layer becomes a separate PNG.
  • Live Photos: a static PNG does not reproduce the motion-video portion.

Convert Multiple HEIC Files and Check Each Result

The file picker allows multiple .heic images to be selected. Each successful source image should produce its own PNG result, while failed files should remain identifiable and retryable.

  • Before conversion: review the selected filenames and remove unwanted files.
  • After conversion: check the state and download action for each result.
  • Failures: retry a failed item without assuming that completed files also failed.
  • Originals: keep them until all required outputs have been checked.
